It happens to all of us, sometimes at the worst possible moment. Tell us your story and win a £50 Continental tyre

It's happened to all of us. We've all had punctures at the worst possible time; here at road.cc we've had them and over at Cycle Surgery they've had them too. 

Do you remember psyching yourself up for a great #mycyclingweekend only to have your day scuppered by a puncture half way up a climb, or experiencing a particularly hairy moment mid-descent?

Maybe you took a photo, maybe you didn't, but if you've got a memory, you can take part in this weekend's #mycyclingweekend competition. 

All you've got to do is try and capture the spirit of that moment, or actual footage of a similar moment this #mycyclingweekend in order to win a Cycle Surgery-provided Continental Grand Prix 4000S II tyre. A tyre which we gave a 9/10 to when we reviewed it and retails at £50.

Obviously we hope none of you puncture this weekend.

There are things you can do to avoid it, especially if the road conditions look like they might contribute to the likelihood of you puncturing.

Punctures might seem like a small-time problem, but should they occur at the wrong time, you might end up like the guys below.

Granted their crashes weren't puncture-caused, and the only reason they sent them to us this week was because we spent last #mycyclingweekend discussing your worst crashes and your recoveries, but our point still stands.

Having been talking to a friend and saying I'd not had a real puncture in about 15 years I then naturally got 3 in 3 weeks.  Scariest being on a short but sharp downhill into a sharp bend, with the towns water supply reservoir on the outside of the bend, 3 feet off the path.  Fortunately not a full deflation, just the front tyre dropped 3/4 of it's air. Never did find out why either.  I can't blame the back tube splitting having failed to lift enough weight off the rear wheel going up a kerb on anything other than operator error.

Last puncture I had was when I was 19 caused by hedge cuttings on the road.  2 years ago I had a tube fail at the valve join, but doubt that counts.

Infact in 3 years of club riding I can only recall 2 punctures on group rides,  one road and one MTB.

Not me, I use Schwalbe tubeless tyres and have plucked thorny branches from my tyre before getting back on my way with my still fully inflated tyres.

But, today Chris "Hoppo" Hopkinson has travelled to Spain to ride a 12hr race on a circuit and is racing as I write. He punctured on the first lap and has subsequently punctured again after about 2 hours. So perhaps a new tyre would be a consolation for a compromised ride in the 12hr race?
