Near Miss of the Day 139: The future in safe hands

Andy suffered this close pass by a Royal Mail lorry on Princess Road in Manchester.

The incident occurred on Thursday May 10.

Andy said: “The initial pass was too close but then it started to move across before clearing me.”

Andy points out that the logo on the rear of the lorry states: “The Future In Safe Hands.”

Princess Road was one of the roads being cycled by undercover officers in the early days of Greater Manchester Police’s close pass operation. A driver of a white van was warned after passing extremely an officer extremely closely near Withington tram stop.

Over the years road.cc has reported on literally hundreds of close passes and near misses involving badly driven vehicles from every corner of the country – so many, in fact, that we decided to turn the phenomenon into a regular feature on the site.
