CycleFit Summer Fondo Events- Father's Day Tour of the Chilterns and September Tour of the Marsh

Father's Day Fondo, Look Mum No Hands food stops, and a trip to the Zoo...

Take Dad for a Father's Day ride with CycleFit's Tour of the Chilterns Fondo on 19th June. Or try the Tour of the Marsh on 18th September.

Following on from the success of last year's inaugural Tour of the Marsh, London bike ergonomics specialists CycleFit have this year organised two events sure to capture the spirit of the Great British Summertime and they've turned up with London bike cafe Look Mum No Hands to do the catering at the food stops.

On 19th June, why not show Dad just how much he means to you by beasting him on either the 100km or 150km Tour of the Chilterns? Both routes embrace the hilly contours of the area, with 2000m of ascent in the 100km option, and 3000m in the full 150km. The more undulating 100km follows a scenic route, passing through the likes of Princes Risborough, Wendover, Little Gaddesden and Berkhamstead, skirting a section of Icknield Way and skimming close to the Ridgeway.

The 150km Gran Fondo route is a more challenging affair, with a much spikier Route Profile, taking in some of the 100km route, but adding in stretches covering the charmingly named Christmas Common and Beacon's Bottom amongst others.

Both routes promise a green and pleasant ride. And if you want to make a really grand day out of it, both options finish just a mile or so from Whipsnade Zoo. Get an ice cream and go see the elephants- the perfect Father's Day. Of course, you don't HAVE to take a Dad.

In September, the Tour of the Marsh winds its far flatter way around the Folkestone, Romney, Rye and Lydd areas, seeing 510m ascent in the 100km route and 1500m of ascent in the 150km, most of that in a punishing final 50km push. Doubtless there will be some fast times on the routes, but it's scenic enough to have interest for those more keen on just enjoying the ride. The routes pass castles and monuments aplenty, as well as skirting this historical stretch of coastline.

Each event will be served by feed and water stations at 50km, and again at 100km for those tackling the 150km Gran Fondo. For those living outside the capital this is a great chance to experience a little taste of Look Mum No Hands bike cafe culture, as they're the folk organising the feed stations.

Entry for both events is £25 per person for the 100km or 150km Gran Fondo.

Online entries are available until midnight 17th June for Tour of the Chilterns and 16th September for Tour of the Marsh. On the Day entry is also available at a £5 surcharge.

Registration starts at 7.15 on the day for Tour of the Chilterns. Electronic timing devices are provided at registration.

Lara has been riding bikes for longer than she'd care to admit, and writing about them nearly as long. Since 2009 she has been working as part of the road.cc review team whilst championing women's cycling on the side, most notably via two years as editor of the, sadly now defunct, UK's first and only women's cycling mag, erm, Women's Cycling.

Believing fervently that cycling will save the world, she wishes that more people would just ride a bike and be pleasant to each other.

She will ride anything with two wheels, occasionally likes to go fast, definitely likes to go far and is always up for a bit of exploring somewhere new and exciting.
