Charge Bikes Hill Chasers video: That looks like John WhittingtonVideo: Red Bull Hill Chasers 2012… take 2
Charge bikes who put up the prizes at last weekend's Hill Chasers event in the centre of Bristol have produced a cool behind the scenes (and in front too) of all the action from Park St with contributions from amongst others Liquigas Cannondale pro Ted King who flew over from the US to take part.
King and the rest of the riders were lured to Park St by the opportunity to win a Gold Charge Plug with a rather natty silver Plug for second place… did we mention road.cc contributor John Whittington won that? Yea perhaps we did.
6000 people turned out on a cold night in February to watch 32 riders, including 16 local qualifiers, take on the hill… here's the action and the atmosphere from a great night in Bristol.

Tony's journey in cycling media started in 1997 as production editor and then deputy editor of Total Bike, acting editor of Total Mountain Bike and then seven years as editor of Cycling Plus. He launched his first cycling website - the Cycling Plus Forum at the turn of the century. In 2006 he left C+ to head up the launch team for Bike Radar which he edited until 2008, when he co-launched the multi-award winning road.cc - finally handing on the reins in 2021 to Jack Sexty. His favourite ride is his ‘commute’ - which he does most days inc weekends and he’s been cycle-commuting since 1994. His favourite bikes are titanium and have disc brakes, though he'd like to own a carbon bike one day.
