Check out this funky looking Specialized S-Works Roubaix. Pretty cool isn’t it? It’s the result of a clothing brand we’ve never heard of, Romance, teaming up with a Dutch artist by the name of Piet Parra and producing a one-off bike that will be auctioned off with all proceeds going to the World Bicycle Relief.
Piet Parra has infused the unique Specialized S-Works Roubaix frame and fork with his post-pop style of chunky bold colour blocks and added hand-drawn characters and typography. It’s definitely a bike you need to get up close to really appreciate.
Underneath the paint is the latest generation Roubaix, with a lighter and sportier frame incorporating the new Future Shock 2.0 front suspension for smoother riding over rough roads and cobbles, and with equipped with SRAM’s top-end Red eTap AXS groupset with hydraulic disc brakes and rolling on Zipp 404 NSW wheels.
The proceeds from the action, live now on eBay, will go entirely to World Bicycle Relief. The charity runs projects in countries such as Malawi, Kenya, Zimbabwe and Zambia and aims to mobilise people with specially designed Buffalo Bikes, to be used for everything from getting to school, allowing health workers to conduct daily visits and for farmers to deliver produce to market.
Bidding will end at 9pm August 16th. Make your bid here www.ebay.co.uk/itm/392361812950
At the time of writing, the bidding was at £9,100. A standard S-Works Roubaix goes for £9,500 but the paint job makes it impossible to put a price on.
Will the highest bidder ride the bike in the open or will it be hung from a wall? What would you do?
