Laura Trott and Marianne Vos star in opening round of Revolution series

Six-event series kicks off in London, October 24

Two of the biggest stars of women's cycling, Laura Trott and Marianne Vos, will feature in the opening meeting of the 2014-15 Revolution track series at Lee Valley VeloPark on October 24-25.

Olympic and Commonwealth gold medallist Trott will be aiming to repeat her 2013 clean sweep of race wins, fighting it out against world and Olympic road race champion Vos.

Vos said: “Having competed in at the Revolution Series in Manchester a couple of years ago I know first‐hand how electrifying the racing is, and coming back to London to compete in the Olympic Velodrome against the best British riders is an exciting challenge. I’ve had a strong set of results on the road over the summer, so I’m looking to repeat that as we get onto the track.”

Trott added: “The atmosphere and support from the fans at each Revolution event is always unbelievable, especially when we are back in the Lee Valley VeloPark. Add the UCI points into the mix and there is a lot to cycle for in this year’s Series.”

The Revolution series has been expanded to six rounds for the 2014-15 season, with two events in each venue.

The full schedule is:

Round 1: October 24/25 - London
Round 2: November 22 - Manchester
Round 3: January 3 - Manchester
Round 4: January 31 - Glasgow
Round 5: February 27/28 - London
Round 6: March 14 - Manchester

John has been writing about bikes and cycling for over 30 years since discovering that people were mug enough to pay him for it rather than expecting him to do an honest day's work.

He was heavily involved in the mountain bike boom of the late 1980s as a racer, team manager and race promoter, and that led to writing for Mountain Biking UK magazine shortly after its inception. He got the gig by phoning up the editor and telling him the magazine was rubbish and he could do better. Rather than telling him to get lost, MBUK editor Tym Manley called John’s bluff and the rest is history.

Since then he has worked on MTB Pro magazine and was editor of Maximum Mountain Bike and Australian Mountain Bike magazines, before switching to the web in 2000 to work for CyclingNews.com. Along with road.cc founder Tony Farrelly, John was on the launch team for BikeRadar.com and subsequently became editor in chief of Future Publishing’s group of cycling magazines and websites, including Cycling Plus, MBUK, What Mountain Bike and Procycling.

John has also written for Cyclist magazine, edited the BikeMagic website and was founding editor of TotalWomensCycling.com before handing over to someone far more representative of the site's main audience.

He joined road.cc in 2013. He lives in Cambridge where the lack of hills is more than made up for by the headwinds.

" two events in each venue"?

Your schedule above shows 3 in Manchester and only 1 in Glasgow.

Might try to get tickets. I've never been in the seats - only in the middle and on the track a few times.
