Adidas goes aero with new adistar spring/summer 2015 cycle clothing range

Adidas has launched the new adistar cycle clothing range for spring/summer 2015, with men and women’s clothing that has been tested in a wind tunnel to be the most aerodynamic race fit possible.

The new range, available in a smart and understated monochrome finish, includes the following items:

Adidas adistar bibshort (male only) - £120
Adidas adistar gloves - £27

The clothing incorporates some of the latest materials technology with a strong focus on aerodynamics running through the collection. “A riders aerodynamic requirements are all perfectly met in adistar products,” says the company.

The Adidas adistar short sleeved jersey above is constructed from a DragZero Fabric with a covered main zipper and strategically placed seams to reduce drag. There are TrailingEdge Hems, inspired by a jet fighter, to reduce vortices, and LeadingEdge sleeves further smooth the airflow.

The Adidas adistar Long sleeved jersey also features a covered main zipper with LeadingEdge sleeves and SlipStreamSeams to reduce drag, and the body-hugging fit of the brushed medium weight fabric should be ideal for spring cycling weather and racing. The jersey also features some reflective details.

The bib shorts also incorporate some of the technology from the jerseys. TrailingEdge Hems are smooth and flat to improve aerodynamics, while again carefully placed seams reduce drag. The shorts are made from a Carvico Revolutional Enery abric with compression qualities and an Elastic Interfaced padded insert is claimed to be comfort for 6 hours of riding.

To combat the changing conditions typical in the spring, the Adidas Pluvius jacket is a lightweight packable design with a water-resistant 4-way stretch fabric. There are LeadingEdge Sleeves to cut cleanly through the air and double front zippers provide easy ventilation, with rear storm flaps to allow hot air to easily escape. There’s reflective branding to provide 360 degree visibility.
