Autumn when the air starts to feel cold and the convertibles are put away in their garages.Cycling past peoples houses with the smell of chimneys ,just love it
I love to ride in the winter - sometimes you get those gems where the roads are clear of ice but the air has a bite to it and the sun is shining down from a crystal clear blue sky.
On those days I get the gloves on and head up into the hills - there's no feeling like it in the world!
Winter. There is nothing to beat making the first tyre marks in fresh snow off road, out before the walkers, snowman makers and other cyclists to catch the sunrise. Perfect.
The coldest, bitterest winter. Man up!
Autumn
A warm early summer Sunday morning - birds singing, sun shining, not too hot later on, dry roads, clear blue sky, no-one about.
Summer evening rides after work, life feels longer
Very early summer ride. Before anyone else is up. Especially because you get home with most of the day left.
Any season is fine by me....they all have their own virtues (Frosty rides in Winter, fresh cycling days in the Spring, warm long rides in the Summer and colourful Autumns). Impossible to pick just one- the main thing is that i'm out on the bike enjoying them all!!
Spring mornings
It's the day, not the season, that makes the ride. (Don't they say in Britain we don't have climate, only weather?). But if pushed I'd say autumn, for sheer beauty.
Has to be spring. The end of 'character building' rides, the ritual putting away of the turbo and the feeling of a bit of form starting to build
Y gwanwyn cynar.
Definitely Summer. Warm enough to carry less spare clothing, and the chance of no rain.
Got to be spring..... Brilliant sunrises, not too warm, the relief after winter when you realise your fingers and toes aren't numb after half an hour on your bike anymore and you are no longer going to be taken out by a sly bit of black ice on the road
Spring, love when you are riding out wearing leg- and arm warmers, then after 15 min. you have to take them of, as it is to warm
I wish I could be a classics hardman who loves the chilly winter air, or the freshness of spring. I'm not though, I'm a pansy. I like riding in summer, when the weather is warm, the days long and after ride beer is even more refreshing.
Summer.
Less rain, warmer weather, longer nights so you can get a good ride in after work.
Late spring in the Alps - still snow on the mountain tops, but the passes are clear and the valleys are green and full of life.
I agree with the comments about winter above - just more exciting and adrenaline filled when it's raining and you're determined to get home...
It has to be spring for me, a combination of watching the spring classics and riding on roads that are not entirely dissimilar (minus the cobbles) lets me emulate my heroes! Plus spring is my favourite season with the world bursting into colour.
I love late spring, longer days and the anticipation of the summer.
The end of spring/start of summer. That first ride of the year with bare arms or bare legs always feels great!
Late autumn - Blue skies and some bite to the air. Beautiful.
Summer ,nice long dusk rides after work!
I look forward to whatever season is next. In the summer I look forward to the slow steady rides punctuated by cafe stops of the winter months and in the winter the fast all out rides of summer where everyone is trying to outdo each other in what is sometimes glorious sunshine.
Winter. Day off riding with clear chilly air and a low sun in the sky...
If I could find a pair of gloves that actually kept my hands warm I'd say I'm happy to cycle all year long, but since I can't the answer is summer.
All seasons; it's the change in them which gives each one it's unique characteristics and great days.
Summer of course! Closely followed by Spring, Autumn and Winter.
